Up
Yonda Farm is an
environmental education center operated by Warren County. Located in Bolton
Landing, New York, the 72 acre property has a variety of wildlife habitat in
addition to a spectacular view of Lake George. The facility features natural
history exhibits and hiking trails. Up Yonda Farm offers a variety of
interpretive programs to schools and the general public.
Warren County Parks,
Recreation and Railroad will be offering college students unpaid internships
during the summer of 2010 at Up Yonda Farm. Warren County will work with the
student and academic institution to determine the requirements necessary to
achieve course credit. Documentation of the students performance and hours
worked will be provided.
Responsibilities
providing information to visitors
conducting interpretive walks
program development and presentation
design and creation of exhibits and displays
preparation and distribution of promotional materials
routine grounds and trail maintenance
Qualifications
good
communication skills, and an ability to work with the public
a major in interpretation, or environmental science \ studies
related course work
computer skills
artistic and design experience are helpful
audio visual skills
No pay or housing is available through this program. Students must have their
own transportation. Liability insurance must be available through educational
institution or student for student activities. An agreement between Warren
County and the academic institution is required.
