Butterflies    Fun For All Ages
Graceful and colorful creatures decorate Up Yonda's butterfly garden. Get a close-up view of butterflies, learn how to identify them, and use nets to try and catch some of them in our field!

Starlab    Indoor Planetarium – Good for all ages
A lot of wishes are directed towards the stars. Come learn how to identify some of the summer constellations and listen to the stories of how they got there. These programs will be held inside a completely dark, inflatable planetarium, which is wheelchair accessible.

Summer Skies    Night Program – Good for all ages
Bring a blanket and get ready for some nighttime stargazing. We will talk about constellations like The Big Bear and Cassiopia. Explore the stars that make up these celestial bodies and the myths behind them.

Summer Open House    Solar System Celebration

Join us on Monday August 11th for our annual Open House when this year’s theme will be “Solar System Celebration”. Admission and parking are free all day and there will be fun family activities between 10am & 2pm, including shows inside Starlab – our inflatable planetarium. The festivities will begin at 10am with a presentation on the Solar System by guest lecturer Peter Zaffo, a life-long researcher of atmospheric science. And don’t forget that all hiking trails and other exhibits, including the museum and butterfly garden will be open all day too, free of charge!

What makes a deer a deer or a snake a snake? Bones, teeth, and other body parts and the way they behave determine what category an animal falls into. Find out how!

Full Moon Hike    Hike at 8 pm
Join us for a peaceful evening on August 16th, as we take a full moon hike to our Lake George Vista. New Program!


Archeology   Join In A Real Dig    $5 non-Members/ Members Free 
Discover the basics of Archeology as we dig for artifacts from the past at Up Yonda. Learn about the history of Bolton Landing and some of its past residents. Special presenter Linda White will be teaching program.

Meadow Sweep    Fun For All Ages
We share the planet with over one million species of insects! Learn about the different insect orders and then trek through our meadow in search of them. Try to catch and identify some of these fascinating six-legged creatures using our insect nets.

While sitting around a campfire with the moon rising through the trees, we’ll share funny and exciting stories while snacking on s’mores.

Dark Wings    Bats and Owls
Discover the creatures that rule the night -bats and owls. See the lighter side of these animals who have long been a source of fear in the dark.

Monarch Watch    Butterfly Tagging
Monarch Watch is a network of volunteers dedicated to monitoring the fall migration of Monarch butterflies in North America. Learn more about the life cycle of this amazing insect. Activities will include a visit to our butterfly garden and participants will tag and release Monarchs.

Tree ID    Guided Hike
Have you ever wondered what that tree is in your backyard?  We will take a walk around the property and learn to identify several tree species by their leaves, buds, and bark.  

Bugs In A Bag  self-guided adventure  $5 non-members  $2 members
Using self-guided props take this fun filled pack on an adventure around Up Yonda Farm and get an up close look at the wonderful world of insects.  These are featured on Mondays, but available to rent any day of the week. 

 

Pond In A Pouch  self-guided adventure  $5 non-members  $2 members
Learn about the creatures that live in a pond.  This bag will provide the young naturalist with all of the hands-on tools needed to take peak at life in a pond. These are featured on Mondays, but available to rent any day of the week. 

 

Navigation Exploration  self-guided adventure  $5 non-members  $2 members
Go on a treasure hunt and find Up Yonda Farm’s Geocaches using a GPS.  Learn how to operate this tool which may lead to many exciting outdoor adventures. These are featured on Mondays, but available to rent any day of the week.
